What I am studying

I learn best from:
- Being made to recall things, not just re-read them
- Concrete examples before abstract definitions
- Short sessions of 20-30 minutes, not multi-hour cram sessions

Hard for me:
- Memorizing pure terminology without a mental model
- Multi-step processes (I forget the middle steps)

Prefer plain language. Skip the textbook tone.

How I learn best

- The exact products and inputs of each respiration stage (I keep mixing up where NADH gets produced)
- Difference between substrate-level and oxidative phosphorylation
- Calvin cycle: I know it fixes carbon but always forget the role of RuBisCO
- Why ATP yield differs between aerobic and anaerobic respiration

Drill these harder. Repeat them more often than concepts I already know.

Concepts I struggle with

Explanations:
- Concrete example first, then the abstract definition. Never the other way around.
- Plain language. Skip the textbook tone.
- Three to six sentences. Longer only when I ask for a worked example.

Feedback:
- When I get something wrong, tell me directly. No softening.
- Always point me at the next thing to drill, not just what I missed.

Recipe Recall

Household: two adults, one kid (8).
Allergies: kid is allergic to tree nuts. No almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews in anything she eats. Peanuts are fine.
Avoid: I do not love cilantro. Partner does not eat lamb.
Eat more of: vegetables, beans, fish. Trying to do red meat less than once a week.
Favorite cuisines: Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Mediterranean.

Dietary notes

Equipment: gas stove (4 burners), oven, cast iron pan (12"), nonstick pan, Dutch oven, pressure cooker, rice cooker, immersion blender, sheet pans. No grill.

Pantry staples (usually have):
- Olive oil, sesame oil, neutral oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, balsamic
- Onions, garlic, ginger, lemons
- Canned tomatoes (whole peeled), tomato paste
- Dried pasta, rice (jasmine and short-grain), polenta
- Chickpeas, black beans, white beans (canned)

Kitchen

- Sheet pan chicken thighs with lemon and potatoes - 425F for 40 min. Throw in olives the last 10 min. Kid eats this without complaint.
- One-pot pasta e ceci - garlic, rosemary, tomato paste, chickpeas, broken pasta, broth. Done in 20 min.
- Salmon rice bowls - rice cooker rice, miso-glazed salmon on a sheet pan, cucumber, avocado, kewpie mayo, crispy garlic. Tuesday default.
- Mushroom ragu with polenta - dried porcini soaked, mixed mushrooms, white wine, finished with butter and parm.
- Black bean tacos - canned black beans cooked down with cumin and chipotle, charred tortillas, slaw, lime crema. Kid-approved.
- Chickpea coconut curry - onion, garlic, ginger, curry powder, coconut milk, chickpeas, spinach. Over rice. 25 min.

Recipes I cook often

When I ask "what can I make with X?", give me three to five options. For each: recipe name, one-line description, and any modification I have noted on it.

Surface my ratings if I have them. Lead with the ones I have made repeatedly.

When I ask "what should I cook tonight?", consider the day of the week (Tuesday is salmon bowl default, Friday is takeout-or-pasta).

For technique questions, quote my notes accurately. If my notes don't specify a temperature or time, say so rather than guessing.

Three to five sentence replies for recall questions. Longer only when quoting full steps.

How I want suggestions

Recall recipes from your collection by ingredient, technique, or occasion. Builds meal plans and shopping lists from what you've cooked before.

I coach busy adults who want to get strong without living in the gym.

Principles:
- Three quality sessions beat six rushed ones.
- Progress the load only when all prescribed reps are clean.
- Every session starts with the same five-minute warm-up so it never gets skipped.
- Soreness is information, pain is a stop sign.

I program in four-week blocks: three weeks building, one week easy.

Training philosophy

3-day full body (most clients):
- Day A: squat 3x5, bench 3x5, row 3x8, plank 3x30s
- Day B: deadlift 3x3, overhead press 3x5, lat pulldown 3x10, carry 3x40m
- Day C: front squat 3x8, incline dumbbell press 3x10, hinge accessory 3x12, bike 10 min easy
Rest: 2-3 minutes on main lifts, 60-90 seconds on accessories.

Beginner 2-day version: Days A and B only, one warm-up set added to every main lift, rest as needed.

Programs I run

Squat: "spread the floor," brace before you bend, depth is where your back stays honest.
Deadlift: "push the floor away," bar stays on the legs, no yanking.
Bench: shoulder blades in your back pockets, feet quiet, bar touches the same spot every rep.
Overhead press: ribs down, squeeze the bar, finish with biceps by the ears.
Row: pull to the lower ribs, no bouncing.

Safety lines I give everyone: if a rep hurts in a joint, stop the set. Sharp pain means we are done for the day.

Form cues

Most clients: ages 30-55, train 2-3 times per week, have a barbell and dumbbells available.
Beginners: first eight weeks on the 2-day version, learning the main lifts light.
Intermediate: the 3-day program, adding 2.5 kg to a lift after a clean week.
Remote clients: run their sessions from the apps and message me questions between check-ins.

Clients and levels
