Turn your task notes into boards, checklists, and weekly plans you can ask about, as a worked example of the whole platform on one job. Starts from the Task Tracker template on Create an assistant.
1
Create it from the template
Choose the Task Tracker template from Create an assistant. It arrives with sample notes and two agents in place: a Tracker Builder that builds the apps, and a Status Recall specialist that answers questions in text. Messages are routed between them automatically.
2
Replace the sample notes
Open the assistant, choose Edit, and find the template's sample notes under Memory. Edit them to hold your own projects and tasks, or delete them and add your own with Add Memory. The template keeps projects and tasks in separate notes.

note: Projects
- Website redesign - client project, due 2026-07-10 - Fieldnote app - side project, no hard deadline - Home office - personal, before August
note: Tasks
Website redesign: - Finalize homepage copy - in progress, high, due 2026-06-19 - Get sign-off on the palette - blocked, waiting on client - Build the pricing page - to do, high, due 2026-06-26 Fieldnote app: - CSV export - in progress, high - Fix the tag filter bug - to do, low
Write them however you already write them; plain text is enough and there is no required format. Press Save when you are done.
3
Ask for a tracker
Use Open chat and ask for the tool you want. The Tracker Builder reads your notes and builds it, so you do not describe your tasks again in the request.
requests that build a tool
"Build a kanban board." "Plan my week from the open tasks." "Show everything due in the next 7 days." "Build a standup prep sheet."
Revise it by describing the change: "put blocked items at the top", "group by project instead of status", "hide anything without a due date". Each request edits the app that is already there.
4
Save it so checkmarks stick
Use Save app and set State to User to have the board follow your account across devices, or Device for one browser. Until you save, the app is a view of your notes and does not keep changes.
Set it to Shared instead if a team works from one board, covered in Build apps several people use at once.
Ask where things stand
Send a question rather than a build request and it routes to the specialist agent: "what is blocked right now?", "what is due this week?", "what did I finish on the website project?" These are answered from the same notes without building anything.
Keep the notes current
Edit the notes under Memory and save to change what future boards are built from. Checking an item off in a saved board updates that board's stored state rather than editing your notes, so the notes stay the source the apps are built from.
Note
This is the pattern behind every assistant: the notes are the material, and the apps are views built from them on request.
